Skyspan Easy-care Cleaning Guide
The canopy of a Skyspan Shade Umbrella is made with the high-quality Serge Ferrari Soltis Proof 502 fabric. This is a highly resistant membrane designed to last over the years, protecting against both weather and UV rays.
Serge Ferrari Précontraint patented technology results in the fabric having greater abrasion resistance and greater UV protection compared to conventional fabrics.
The canopies are particularly resistant to polluting agents for two principal reasons:
- The smooth surface has very few micro-cavities that could hold deposits on a sustainable basis
- It has a protective non-stick coating across the entire surface area.
The fabric is easy-care, however, an active cleaning and maintenance regime will extend the life of the Skyspan Shade canopy. Serge Ferrari provides a recommendation for how to best clean the fabric.
The recommended cleaning procedure is as follows:
- (a) Use a soft brush (nylon) or a sponge
- (b) Wash the canopy with a neutral cleaner (pH between 5 & 11) such as ’Jasol EC 38 Neutral Cleaner
- (c) Adjust the concentration of the cleaner and water temperature, according to the level cleaning required:
- (d) Rinse with fresh, clean water.
Unsuitable cleaning procedures:
It is important to note that high-pressure washing (water blasting) is NOT suitable and can cause irreparable damage to the canopy, particularly when already weathered.
Unsuitable cleaning agents:
The following cleaning agents that are not permitted under any circumstances:
Acetone, Petrol, Benzene, Fuel Oil, Kerosene, Perchlorethylene, Turpentine, Toluol, Trichloroethane, Oil, THF, Ethyl Acetate, Hydrogen Peroxide, Ammonia, Nitric Acid, Sulphuric Acid, Acetic Acid, Hydrochloric Acid, Soda, Caustic Soda, Bleach.
